About/ Stef Allespach

 

Stef Allespach is a Californian-German artist/poet working in Los Angeles and Berlin. Their multi-media practice includes collage, video, drawing and painting. Her use of materials is determined by techniques that best articulate themes filtered through the histories of appropriation, film theory and feminism. Installation, photography and performance-collaboration are also components of their practice. 

​

Allespach is an Assistant Professor and Lecturer on Photography and Media at various institutions including University of Southern California, L.A. City College and Chapman University. They exhibit, screen and perform nationally and internationally at institutions that include The Getty Center, LACMA, MOCA, Akademie der Künste, The Fowler Museum, Lucca Film Festival, American Cinematheque and Los Angeles Contemporary Exhibitions.

Allespach is a graduate from the Art Center College of Design (MFA), School of the Art Institute Chicago (BFA) and UCLA Creative Writing (AA).
