Projekt Space 9 is an artist-run program dedicated to art as a catalyst for connection and cross-cultural communion. Our work is driven by shared values of collaboration, accessibility and emotional resonance. A platform assembled through performance, exhibitions and energy-based practices. We offer space for artists and communities to meet, experiment and expand the concept of contemporary art, beyond disciplines and traditional formats.

Rooted locally yet internationally diverse, we invite people to feel, listen, and participate—breaking down isolation and awakening collective imagination. Our goal is to blend creative practice with embodied presence, where individuals connect and new cultural energies emerge. To impact not only what is seen or heard, but felt—strengthening community bonds and expanding how we experience art together.

Marjan Vayghan is a interdisciplinary artist who works in performance, writing, drawing, painting, animation, music, textile, fashion and food.

Born in Tehran during the Iran–Iraq War and raised in Los Angeles, Vayghan's work weaves ancestral knowledge, ecology and collaborative making into living archives. A display of synchronicity shaped by war and ocean light. She is a bridge between the intimate and the expansive body carried forward, not as consumption, but as remembrance and communion.

"I am an artist, poet and designer whose work bridges ancestral craft, multi-sensory experience and collective healing. I come from a lineage of makers, my grandmother and aunt sewed every garment I wore as a child and I continue this tradition by transforming my paintings and drawings into textiles, garments and immersive installations."

Vayghan's thesis on World Arts & Cultures at the University of California Los Angeles traces the history of how art becomes sanctuary in times of joy, war, displacement and cultural blossoming.

"My fashion practice is my textile-poetry, my wearable memory, resilience and synesthesia as tangible form. Each fabric a poem, each garment a vessel for story, each collection a multi-sensory landscape of sight, sound, touch and scent."

Vayghan is the founder and chief creative of Mothers of Matter INK, a Los Angeles nonprofit dedicated to participatory public art and community ritual. She is the founder/director of Building Bridges and Rooftops, Los Angeles, Tehran and Roma. Her work includes head of costume in film/TV, fashion curator of J.T.T.S. and executive board member.

Her work is exhibited nationally and internationally including Centro Estatal de las Artes Tecate, The Getty Center, Los Angeles County Museum of Art, Craft Contemporary, Torrence Art Museum, Museum of Contemporary Art and Fowler Museum.
